An ultimate photographic adventure! Lake Superior is the
largest freshwater lake in the world. It covers over 31,000 square miles and stretches 382 miles east to west and 160 miles north to south. The Circle Tour will cover 3 states and 2 countries. We will explore the hidden treasures and well-known landmarks. Starting in Two Harbors MN we will work our way north and east along the rugged North Shore photographing Split Rock Lighthouse, Artist’s Point, Red Rock Point, and Grand Portage. Entering Canada we will cover Hurkett Dock fishing camp, Rossport, Neys Provincial Park, Pukaskwa Provincial Park, Lake Superior Provincial Park. Re-entering the US, in Michigan, we will work our way east taking in Whitefish Point, Grand Sable Dunes, Pictured Rocks, and the Keweenaw Peninsula. Completing our trip with a visit to the Bayfield Peninsula.
Photographic locations are selected to accommodate a wide range of physical abilities. Most locations do not require extensive physical exertion if not desired. I provide one-on-one instruction throughout the tour and individual review of your work.
Instruction
This workshop is primarily a field shooting workshop. While there are no classroom sessions I am engaging you in one on one tutorials and instruction in the field. My primary emphasis while in the field is to make sure that you are able to get awesome images.
Topics of instruction in the field include camera technique, proper metering for proper exposure, how to read histograms, composition for impact, filtering for water motion effects, landscape photography techniques, and much more.
Itinerary
Day 1) 9:00am leave Minneapolis and drive to North Shore. Stop and photograph along the way. Overnight at Grand Portage.
Day 2) Sunrise shoot at select location. Cross the border after breakfast. Drive to Nipigon shooting at select locations along the lake and Ouimet Canyon. Overnight at Nipigon.
Day 3) Sunrise shoot at Hurkett Dock. Drive to Rossport. Photograph at select locations including Rainbow Falls and along the lake. Overnight at Rossport.
Day 4) Sunrise photography shoot at island. Drive to Marathon. Photograph at Nyes Provincial Park and other locations along the way. Overnight at Marathon.
Day 5) Sunrise at Hatties Cove. Drive to Wawa. Photograph Michipicoten and other selected locations including Silver Falls. Overnight at Wawa.
Day 6) Explore and photograph Lake Superior Provincial Park. Overnight at Wawa
Day 7) Sunrise at overlook along the lake. Drive to Newberry MI. Photograph Whitefish Point. Overnight at Newberry.
Day 8) Photograph Tahquamenon Falls, drive and photograph Pictured Rocks. Overnight at Ontonagon.
Day 9) Sunrise at Lake of the Clouds in Porcupine Mountains. Photograph Presque Isle River and other selected locations. Overnight in Ashland.
Day 10) Sunrise at selected location and drive to Minneapolis. Afternoon–end of tour.
Location
Lake Superior. We will begin and complete our tour in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Payment
Cost: $349595 per person
Includes: transportation (from Minneapolis MN and back), 8 nights hotel accommodations (based upon double occupancy, single occupancy is extra and based upon availability, $850.00) guided tours and admission fees to scheduled special attractions.
Not included: airfare (if any), meals.
A nonRefundable deposit of $500 will hold your registration until 90 days prior to the workshop when the balance is due.
