This trip will get you off the beaten path!

From the majestic towering Redwoods to the emerald coast this landscape is a photographers paradise and we will soak up as much of it as possible. Getting great landscape photographs requires careful planning. Our visits to specific locations will be timed to get the most out of each location and be in the right place on the right day. Most days will begin prior to sunrise and end after sunset. There will be ample breaks for rest and image review but our primary focus will be to be in prime locations during prime light.

From lush green forests to shorelines of grand vista sunsets and tide pools there is an endless supply of subjects and locations. Join me for a trip of a lifetime!

Instruction

Working with participants individually in the field is the hallmark of our workshops and this workshop will be no different. Instruction will include camera metering technique, composition, filtering for feeling and texture, how to select vantage points for vista landscapes, creating the intimate landscape, and much more.

Location

We will begin our tour in Crescent City California for two nights, then we will relocate to Gold Beach, Oregon for one night, two nights at Bandon Oregon, and finally spend two nights in Yachats.

Itinerary

This is my 5th year running a workshop at this location and I have completely redesigned it! From the locations, we visit the hotels where we stay! This schedule is subject to change. Each day we will rise early and work late, there will be plenty of opportunity for breaks, naps, and rest. There will also be plenty of opportunities to capture stunning photographs. Day 1 Begin workshop at 2:00 pm in Cresent City California. Photography in Redwoods and along the coast, sunset Battery Point. Day 2, Redwood forests and woodland photography near Cresent City, sunset along coast and Battery Point. Day 3, Woodland photography and travel Oregon Coast to Gold Beach, sunset at Meyer’s Beach. Day 4, travel Oregon Coast to Bandon, sunset at sea stacks near Bandon. Day 5, explore the surrounding area of Bandon, sunset at sea stacks near Bandon. Day 6, travel Oregon Coast to Yachats, a possible side trip to Sweet Creek Falls if the weather is right, sunset along coast possibly at Thor’s Well. Day 7, explore the coast near Yachats, tidepool photography at low tide, sunset at Cape Perpetua. Day 8, morning shoot in near Yachats, end of workshop at about 10:00 am. Specific locations and times are not given because each day’s itinerary will be determined by weather, light, and subject opportunity. We will do our best to time our visit to Thors Well at prime time–that is one hour prior to or just after high tide and at sunset.

Payment

A nonRefundable Deposit of $200 holds your registration until 60 days prior to the workshop when the balance is due. Accommodations, meals, and transportation are not included in the workshop cost. Upon registration, you will receive information about where you can make your hotel accommodations.

Included in cost: directed instruction and guiding.

Not included: transportation, lodging, or meals.
