November Skies
We are based at the ColdSnap Photography Studio near Two Harbors, Minnesota. Shoot locations will be along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

November on the Big Lake is notorious for it’s moods. From the storms of November to the calm of the sea there is no telling what Lake Superior will look like. One thing is for sure; she will offer photographic opportunities like no other season. One of my favorite times of the year to photograph is during November–it is a transition time which means that the conditions can vary wildly from one day to the next. It is this change that offers great photographic subject matter. You will go from concept to finished image with tutorials and demonstrations on capturing as well as post processing your images. This three day workshop will include hands on assistance in the field as well as in the classroom. Small workshop size means there is plenty of one on one instruction. Shooting in various conditions of light, and exploring proper digital technique and workflow using either Adobe Lightroom, or Photoshop (or both.)
This workshop is a blend of field and classroom, we will spend about 50% of our time in the field and 50% in the classroom.
In the field: Landscape Photography and Camera Technique. Proper metering and exposure for printmaking. Composition for impact. How to read histograms.
In the classroom: Lightroom and or Camera Raw Post processing techniques. Photoshop and basic printmaking technique. How to read a test print. Proper color balance. How to sharpen for print output. Proper print resolution, and much more.
Each participant will work on their own images and have the opportunity to make several 8×10 test prints and 1, 12×18 finished exhibition quality fine art prints that evoke the photographer’s excitement and vision as first experienced in the field.
