Newfoundland!

Newfoundland Canada

July 7-14, 2020

Fourteen years ago I asked my Aunt Ruth if I should go to Iceland, Norway, or Ireland (she was head of AAA travel for the Midwest and has been around the world several times, so I figured if anyone knew a great place to go it was her.) She said Newfoundland, I looked back at the list of choices I had given her and said, Newfoundland was not on the list. Her reply was that Newfoundland was the most beautiful place she had ever been. Pretty strong recommendation, I was not disappointed and I am sure that you won’t either.

Join us for a photographic adventure of a lifetime

Itinerary

Our workshop begins with a one day and one night on St. John’s historic harbor and Cape Spear, there is much to see and photograph on the eastern most point in North America, from ships, lighthouses, old forts and historic maritime architecture. The next three days will be spent in the area of Trinity Newfoundland, the oldest continuously occupied town in North America. Here we will spend three thrilling days of; puffins, eagles, osprey, one outing in a zodiac for whale photography, and if the conditions are right some late melting ice-burgs. On our fifth day we leave for the most picturesque region of Newfoundland; the Twillingate  islands. This region is old time Newfoundland at its best. The rugged natural and cultural scenery is counterbalanced by the warmth and friendliness of the inhabitants. Two days here is barely enough to capture all the region has to offer. Our last evening is at Cape St. Mary’s, one of the largest Gannet Sea Bird colonies in the world. The last day is spent traveling though the southern Avalon Peninsula which is home to roving herds of Woodland Caribou.

Newfoundland’s exquisite scenery is only matched by the altruistic character of its inhabitants.
