Mexico Photography Tour 2020

January 29 - February 6

The Mountains, Monuments, and Monarchs of Central Mexico

I have been lucky in my life to have travelled and explored some pretty amazing places on this planet. Some places have excited me more than others–some have reached deep into my soul and left a mark that will forever be there. Mexico is one of those places. Blessed with a culture that is rich with history, and an incredibly diverse ecosystem, the highlands of Central Mexico are a photographers’ dream! This is a photographic trip of a lifetime.

We will explore everything from Mexico City, mountain waterfalls, prehistoric ruins, UNESCO World Heritage Cities, and the Monarch Sanctuaries high in the tropical mountains. Every day you will see sights that will leave you in awe. Each day will greet you with more photographic subject matter than you could dream possible.

Our route and destinations have been carefully pre-scouted for safety and comfort. Our mode of transportation will be in Suburban SUV’s for maximum comfort and safety.

Instruction

This workshop is a primarily field shoot.  There is no classroom time scheduled as each day we will pack in as many photographic sights as is comfortably possible. Some days we will start before sunrise, other days we will go past sunset. Our pace will be energetic, but not exhausting. Instruction will be a combination of field demonstrations and one on one instruction. Instructors, John Gregor and Tomy O’Brien, have over 35 years of professional photographic experience. Their goal is to help you get great photographs.

Location

We will start the workshop in Mexico City and end in Mexico City. We will make a large circular tour around Mexico City visiting mountain villages and cities both large and small. See the Sample Itinerary for a list of locations where will go.

Fly into Mexico City International Airport. We can greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. If you arrive more than 2 days in advance of the workshop we won’t be able to greet you at the airport. When the workshop is complete we can drop you off at a hotel of your choice (we can make suggestions on where to stay if you want to extend your stay in Mexico) or drop you off at the airport (the earliest we can get you to the airport on the last day is 12:00 noon)

Itinerary

We don’t have a fixed itinerary as locations and sites visited will depend upon weather and light conditions, so this itinerary is subject to change. The list below states the village or city of our hotel followed by a list of potential locations we will visit. It is not a complete or completely accurate list.
